A Tribute to Charles Phan - Cook the Book: Slanted Door with Chef Annie Elmore and Cocktail Master Julie Ross

Join us for an immersive hands-on cooking class that explores the techniques and ingredient-driven philosophy inspired by Charles Phan, the legendary chef behind The Slanted Door. Just as Phan revolutionized Vietnamese cuisine with a balance of authenticity and innovation, we will create Vietnamese dishes, respecting their deep cultural roots while elevating flavors with modern craftsmanship. In this class we will explore the interplay of textures, umami, and vibrant spice profiles—hallmarks of Vietnamese culinary traditions.

Guests will be greeted with Bo La Lot (Grilled Beef In Betel Leaves, Nuoc Cham, Peanuts, Fried Shallots) and substantial tastes of the following menu items. 

There's no substitution for this class!! 

Our talented Cocktail Master Julie Ross will be demoing and serving 3 delicious cocktails that she was carefully chosen from the book to pair with the dinner menu.

  • Hotel Nacional Special - Aged Rum, Pineapple Gum Syrup, Apricot Brandy, Bitters and Lime Juice
  • Indian Summer - Gin, Grapefruit Juice, Lemon Juice, Elderflower Liquor
  • Singapore Sling - Vodka, Cointreau, Benedictine, Cherry Heering, Lime and Pineapple Juice, Bitters

Ticket price is per 1 person.  If you register separately from the person (or people) with whom you are attending, please let us know in advance so we can make sure we seat you with your party. 

Refund policy: Once a class is purchased it is non-refundable.  The ownership, however, is yours and you may send someone else in your stead.
