Happy Birthday, Julia!

We are once again celebrating Julia Child’s Birthday (8/15/1912) at the Hot Stove Society. Our kitchen will be decked out in white tablecloths and wispy tapered candles resembling her much admired restaurants of Paris. Chez Georges at 1 Rue Du Mail, rumored to be her favorite, serves as our menu inspiration for this evening of frivolity, Julia lore, and of course wines from the region curated by Seattle’s fine French wine bar Le Caviste.
Our menu features French summertime classics …
- Oyster bar greeting paired with a classic French 75
- French regional butter tasting with Le Panier baguettes, red radish, saucisson sec, sel gris
- Frisée salad of lardons, poached egg, mustard vinaigrette, smoked Maldon
- Halibut a la Sole meunière, lemons brûlées
- Seared Muscovy duck breast with fresh peaches, black pepper, thyme
- Green beans, summer chanterelles, crisp shallots
- Beef tallow French fries
- Epoisses de Bourgogne, lavender shortbread
- Ginger mille-feuille, blackcap blackberries
We sure hope to see you at the Hot Stove while I demonstrate the recipes that make eating in Paris so delicious. On our last trip to the city of lights, Jackie and I swore off starred restaurants and concentrated on the food of the people delivered in thousands of cafes, bistros and brasseries. Good call on our part!

Ticket price is per 1 person. If you register separately from the person (or people) with whom you are attending, please let us know in advance so we can make sure we seat you with your party.
Refund policy: Once a class is purchased it is non-refundable. The ownership, however, is yours and you may send someone else in your stead.
